How it Works

  • I offer a brief phone consultation at no cost to review the issues you would like to address in therapy. This time also allows you to determine whether you feel I would be a good fit for you to work with. If you decide to proceed, we will schedule an intake session, during which we can discuss your history, current issues, and goals. This session allows me to learn more about your history and unique circumstances. At the end of our intake session, I will recommend a treatment plan and explain different methods we might use to help you reach your goals. Your therapy goals may change somewhat over time, and we can be flexible about meeting your needs. The goal is to help you gain clarity, develop new skills and live a happier and more satisfying life.

  • My doctoral training was primarily in Cognitive Behavioral and Insight Oriented Therapies. I also use Mindfulness Training, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, and, when appropriate, Life Coaching. I am a lifetime meditator and I often teach simple meditation skills or breathing techniques that help clients feel calm, grounded, less emotionally reactive and more fully present. If you are interested, you may want to learn the therapeutic benefits of journaling and/or narrative therapy. We will use what works best for you. I look forward to working with you. I will encourage you to be compassionate with yourself, build healthy self-care habits, nurture healthy relationships, and create the life you were meant to live.

  • I offer HIPAA compliant online video therapy! Appointments are available to residents throughout the state of Oregon. I am currently seeing clients online using Zoom. This is a very simple system to use. Download the app on your phone or laptop/computer. I will send you a link the evening before our appointment. Click on the link at the appropriate time and a screen will pop up allowing both audio and video.

  • I am currently in-network with:

    • Regence Blue Cross/Blue Shield

    • Pacific Source

    • Moda

    • First Choice Health

    • Aetna

    • Providence

I can accept Medicare Advantage plans that are attached to other insurances, but I am not a primary Medicare provider.

Some insurance companies, like United, may reimburse me as an Out Of Network provider, though at a lower rate. My billing agent will file all claims for us.

You may have a co-pay, just as you do with your primary care medical provider, for which you will be responsible.

You will need a credit/debit card on file to cover your co-pay. If you do not have insurance, my cash pay rate is $180 per session.

Please make sure you know what your insurance will cover and that I am contracted with them. Clients are sometimes informed by insurance that they will cover counseling/therapy, only to discover later that, yes, they do cover therapy - but only with providers they are contracted with. Also, know if you have met your deductible if you have one. Sessions will not be covered until your deductible is met. Do your best to get accurate information in order to avoid any unpleasant surprises that could potentially interrupt your therapy.

I look forward to meeting and working with you. I will encourage you to be compassionate with yourself, build healthy self- care tools, nurture healthy relationships, and create the life you were meant to live.
