About Me

Linda Starbird

I am a senior psychologist, life coach and writer. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a therapist and I was very fortunate to find excellent training throughout my educational career. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Washington (1974), a Master of Arts in Psychology from San Diego State University (1976), a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Maine (1983), and a Master of Fine Arts in Nonfiction Writing from Pacific University (2019).

As an early career psychologist, I specialized in treating children and adults in rural Maine who had experienced family trauma. During my mid-career years, while raising my twins in Colorado, I received advanced training as a court appointed child custody evaluator, and also provided psychotherapy to adults and adolescents in my private practice.

I began my life coach training with Mentor Coach in 1997 and renewed that training in 2019. Life coaching has provided a valuable adjunct to psychotherapy for clients who want intervention, guidance and coaching, but who do not meet the criteria for a mental health diagnosis.

My family relocated in Central Oregon in 2017. As a senior psychologist, I currently provide psychotherapy to adults and older adolescents. I am enjoying the beautiful landscapes of Central Oregon, writing fiction and nonfiction, learning about horses, and blogging about tools to help clients feel more grounded and less reactive to their surroundings.

I hope to have the opportunity to work with you!

Linda Luther-Starbird, Ph.D.
