How does it work?

Therapy

The Therapy Process: We will first schedule an hour long intake session, during which we can discuss your current needs and goals. This session allows me to learn about your history and unique circumstances, while allowing you to determine whether we would be a good fit to work together. If you decide to move forward with therapy, we will schedule a therapy appointment at a time that is convenient for you to meet with me on Zoom. I will announce on this website the date I will be back in the office, at which time you may choose to meet with me on Zoom or in-person. At the end of our intake session, I will recommend a treatment plan and explain different methods we might use to help you reach your goals. Your therapy goals may change somewhat over time, and we can be flexible about meeting your needs. The goal is to help you gain clarity, develop new skills and live a happier and more satisfying life.

Methodologies: My doctoral training was primarily in Cognitive Behavioral and Insight Oriented Therapies. I also use Mindfulness Training, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, and, when appropriate, Life Coaching. I am a lifetime meditator and I often teach simple meditation skills or breathing techniques that help clients feel calm, grounded, less emotionally reactive and more fully present. I am also a writer, and, if you are interested, you may want to learn the therapeutic benefits of journaling and/or narrative therapy. We will use what works best for you.

Insurance Billing: I am currently contracted with Regence Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Pacific Source, Moda, First Choice Health, and Providence. Other insurance companies may reimburse me as an Out Of Network (OON) provider, though likely at a lower rate. My billing agent will file all claims for us. You may have a co-pay, just as you do with your primary care medical provider, for which you will be responsible.
